How to save money by doing what you were already going to do, but with better timing..
One key to high quality silage, is giving silage an excellent fermentation process. One way to help out is by blocking out the oxygen as quickly as possible to prevent any excess dry matter, nutrient loss, and moldy feed.
As you can see in this photo. We communicated with the silage packers on their progress and started covering the silage as soon as there was enough room to add a sheet of plastic.
By doing this, they were able to continue adding silage consistently while we were able to cover it right behind them just hours after it was freshly packed. Resulting in minimum loss and excellent nutrient silage.
We were going to cover it up eventually anyways - only difference: Communication and planning.
